Seven Samurai

An undeniable masterclass in filmmaking. It has so much patience which allows you to really live through the struggles with them. A story like this isn't going to be nonstop action; there's the build, the tedious waiting for the bandits to attack and this makes sure that you understand all of that.

The final battle isn't made with the Hollywood template. It's strategic and every death means something regardless of whether it's a Samurai, a villager or a bandit.

Fortunately, this movie has an intermission (or at least my copy does) and it helps save many issues I feared. 

My favourite portion of this film is the gathering of the seven samurai. It has so much character, allows for so many dynamics and ultimately just makes for a very pleasant viewing experience in this world that I enjoyed watching. Unfortunately though, it flows straight into my lowest chunk of the story. The waiting. Intentionally tedious and kind of boring, I felt exactly like them, waiting patiently for the attack to begin. However, by the time it came, my patience was starting to wear thin and I really had to make a conscious effort to get back into this movie.
