About Me

My name is Cole Jones, and I'm an NCTJ-qualified journalist with an undying love for cinema and the magic behind filmmaking.

Using this page, I frequently publish honest and thoughtful reviews and essays on all kinds of films. Whether it's a summer blockbuster, a low-budget independent film or the next big international release, my goal is to open people's eyes to different types of entertainment and storytelling.

When writing my reviews, I try not to focus on the story itself; instead, I look for the achievements in filmmaking and the feelings it extracts from the viewer. My aim is for this page to be a catalogue of film suggestions, where my expertise can introduce fans everywhere to their new favourite movies and expand their palate.

Back in 2022, I discovered the Letterboxd app, and it helped me realise that I wasn't alone in my obsession with film. The community of people I was introduced to proved that I could still achieve my dream of becoming a film critic without the obstacle of university, and I have since written hundreds of reviews on all kinds of feature films.

To me, writing is about much more than having a degree. It's about the passion you carry, the conversations your writing can create, and the impact it can have on the future of cinema.
